Our WHY here at The Vine.
A vine uses other plants, rock exposures and support systems to grow, reach its potential and reach the sunlight. We’re passionate about creating an environment for people to do the same. Whether enjoying our family friendly deck and gardens, shopping online or joining one of our group runs our aim is to provide something for everyone regardless of fitness level, culture, gender or age.
Last year my family arrived in Hout bay for a short holiday from Australia and its fair to say we fell in love with this incredible little bay. A few hundred runs later and there is no-where we would rather be!
WHAT we do at The Vine
We combine our passions of trail running in the mountains with a world class coffee from our seasoned Barista’s, some healthy and tasty food and some of the best craft beers in Cape Town.
Whether it’s a Friday night drinking cocktails and dancing to live music, an early morning trail run over some of Table Mountain’s hidden trails or a family friendly breakfast after a cycle, we are constantly focused on providing the best experiences for our customers and community.

Our Founder, Innes Smith
Innes is an experienced Ultra distance runner and qualified running coach from Australia who decided after many years working in corporate environments to pursue his dream of opening a running store and café in Cape Town.
We are working hard to not only create an inspiring and leading physical store and cafe but also create the best online experience for South African consumers. We believe there is a strong need for a premier online location to get the best gear, advice and experience.
